Sunset

This will not have so much narrative. Just pure appreciation of how the sun has set today, October 29, 2012.

Appreciate each moment we have, we all deserve it. Simple as taking it all in when the day ends with a beautiful sunset

Anne Curtis for Bench Celebrity Scents

Anne Curtis for Bench Celebrity Scents

Anne Curtis is one of the bankable endorsers right now in the Philippines. People from all walks of life trust her name alone, looking at it from a different perspective, it is strengthening its course as a brand name itself. But she will get to that I am sure, soon.

EDT: Sweetheart, Fierce and Glamorous for Php 368

Last October 27, 2012 at the SM Mall of Asia as one of the events lined up for Philippine Fashion Week, Bench has formally launched Anne Curtis as part of their family for the Bench Celebrity Scents. She has 6 fragrances in total: Eau de Toillette (EDT): Glamorous, Fierce, and Sweetheart for Php 368 a bottle and Body Spray Amour: Cuppycake, Baby Kisses, and Carnival Cocktail for Php 128 a bottle.

Amour Body Spray for Php 128

The show started with an a Capella group to the tune of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" getting the jam packed SM Mall of Asia's atrium/activity center ready for Anne Curtis. She launched her fragrances with Bench Celebrity Scents Collection on the runway singing to Diana Ross' "I'm Coming Out" doning a beautiful pink laced gown looking like a living barbie doll. Walked on the runway in a beautiful gold dress and ended the Bench Concerto in J.Lo's "Dance Again". Both songs were sang LIVE by Anne Curtis. Playful on the runway, the crowd cheered her on and enjoyed every minute of her little Concerto. You can just hear the screams and cheers on the video.

I apologize to those who are looking for pictures during the launch, I did not take one to be honest but hold on I have something better. I have recorded Anne Curtis' Bench Concerto (90% of it) for your viewing pleasures.

We all know that once Anne Curtis sets out in public for a brand, it means that it is something worth it (and I am not borrowing a line from her shampoo/conditioner endorsement by the way). Go grab your own bottle at any Bench store near you.

5 Reasons Why You Should Watch A Secret Affair

A Secret Affair

First of all I would love to reiterate a disclaimer, I am a huge fan of Anne Curtis, my tweets and some of my blog entries are about her heck even my top post of all time is about her: The Sensational Anne Curtis BUT please do not mistake this entry a biased one. I am definitely not aiming for that.

Now that I have had that out of the way and I truly hope that it had settled your thoughts let me give you 5 reasons why you should watch A Secret Affair this coming October 24, 2012 and the rest of the show dates in whichever cinema is close to you.

1.  Trailers are just snippets; they do not define or tell you the whole story of the movie. I agree and know how you feel when you watch trailers. I personally favor them as they are the so-called windows to the soul of movies kinda like that of the eyes are the windows to someone’s soul. But please do not mistake the trailer of A Secret Affair to another “mistress-driven-movie-plot” because it is not. Yes you may have associated it with No Other Woman because Anne Curtis and Derek Ramsay star in it but I would urge you to watch the movie and be a judge to the entire story not just what you see in a minute and a half clip. This movie is a totally different angle of what love and trust truly are.

2.  Shining moment for Andi Eigenmann: Seriously Sam’s role was for her and was made for her. This young lady would definitely make you realize that she is worth your attention every frame and second she has in A Secret Affair. Andi Eigenmann is a gem in this movie, no doubt about that.

3.  Not just an eye-candy Derek Ramsay: I am sure all my ladies out there and yes that includes the beckies, would agree on me on him being an eye-candy but Derek Ramsay the ultimate leading man he is would make you swoon and cry without even trying. He brought forth to the table what was asked for a person who needed to handle two different strong willed and abled women that are Anne Curtis and Andi Eigenmann.

4.  The best catchy lines and supporting cast: The supporting cast is just remarkable; Ms. Jacklyn Jose is amazing as always. I would put on a wager with anyone who wouldn’t laugh or even enjoy the best lines in this movie. I will pay you back for your popcorn and water (healthy living, yes?) should you not enjoy the lines after watching it. Just tell me and I may even put you up to a 22oz Slurpee to give you a little brain freeze as well as to punish your brain cells for that. I dare you to watch the movie on opening day.

5.  The Ever Sensational Anne Curtis: (don't judge beacause there might be a hint of my biased self whatever may come next after this word) She would make you cry, make you laugh, and would take you in a different journey about trust, love and hurt in this movie heck she would even make you swear under your breath to rethink about your exercise regime (if ever there is one). I wouldn’t say much anymore as you may slap me with being biased.

I know I said 5 reasons why you should watch A Secret Affair but I will throw in one for the cinematography buffs out there. The framing and the, well yes, cinematography and direction of this movie is just beautiful; the beautiful people in it were made even more pleasurable to watch because of it and the acting is superb.

So get off your butt on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 and watch A Secret Affair with your friends and love ones, tag along your boyfriend or girlfriend to seal the trust thing in your relationships. This movie would be worth your time and dime. Do not just judge it by what the people said about the trailer. Have your own say about the movie.

10 Things/Places I Miss in UPLB (Yufie Elbi)

University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB)
(not my photo)

It has been about 7 years since I graduated from University of the Philippines Los Banos. I usually go back every December for our Varsity Team’s reunion (annual), sometimes for badminton pick up game with them as well or just hanging out. Today I stumble upon some pictures taken years ago while I was still studying, damn I am getting old. Haha! anyway here are the 10 things I miss in UPLB.

1.  Freedom Park: I used to take summer classes and the park was always the place where thinking gets done as well as running around for the work out. My favorite time usually is when the cotton tree (I am not sure what the tree is really called sorry) bursts and the all the threads fly around the park and the green is covered with white looking like it snowed on a summer day. So beautiful.

2.  Baker Hall: I know this has been converted to a museum but this is where hours of my weeknights and Friday afternoon were spent for training. It is where all the pain and fun with friends come together. I have other fond memories in there too. Haha

3.  Burger King (it is gone now): after training my friends/team mates and I would go to Burger King every Friday afternoon to eat and enjoy the unlimited drinks they offer. If you were batch 2001 or lower in UPLB you would know what “suicide drink” is.

4.  Food: who wouldn’t want the student meals? For 15 pesos you get to eat lunch. This maybe during my time but I am sure there would be still places for this amount of meal. Get siomai from Papus and you’re good to go for the day. The fresh lumpiang ubod, the fried chicken among other.

5.  Naked Dance or Oblation Run: despite this being different from Diliman because the men in our’s cover their bodies with coal imitating the color of our Oblation Statue but this was always fun. I remember my freshman year we were actually in front to experience this for the first time and remember myself staying at the back in my senior year to allow the freshmen in front. It was a great sight haha.

6.  Thursday Nights: this is usually the gimmick night in UPLB as most people would go home on a Friday night to their respective homes. The drinks at Isis Taas, billiards and coffee too. I have had my nights with friends at the not so constant clubs in the area (they usually don’t stick and every other time another one opens haha)

7.  Mang Pogs: who would forget Mang Pogs? This is where the drinks and food come from when you wish to have them late in the night. Always the go to store for most of the students.

8.  The jokes about Men’s: no this is not the monthly visitor but the dormitory inside the school that is now co-ed housing.

9.  The Ghost/world war II stories: the secret tunnels they said that the school has, the creepy places, the myths about the never ending bridge, forestry and all those places. What I do not miss though was me experiencing it in our own creepy apartment. Haha

10. The school itself: I had the best 4 years of my life in UPLB. When I was asked to make a choice whether I transfer to Diliman or stay in Elbi after a year, in a heart beat I said I’d stay and it was one of the best decisions ever. The friends I made there, the classes I took, the places we went, the good times and the bad, the craziness, the getting drunk but never really puking, the failed classes not just exams but classes, the retakes, statistics, NatSci with ¾ of the class failing the entire subject. Everything about this place is magical, the love found and lost, the friends and enemies made as well as the smiles and tears. I would say I am grateful for the experience Elbi.

I could go on and on about this but I’ll stop right here.

My “Possible” Roadtrip Mix (Tape)

(not my artwork)

I still want to use the word “mixtape” even though I will end up putting up all these songs in one CD or in a thumb drive. Mixtape is what I grew up with. It was the coolest thing back then having most of your favorite songs in Side A and Side B. Imagine the fun (for kids these days, the horror) of rewinding and fast forwarding the cassette tape to jump a few songs to your favorite one.

There is no theme here just what has been on my playlist for a while. Imagine I have a C-60 or C-90 that could hold 24 songs (12 each side). Anyway here we go:

Side A:

  1. “Running” Jessie Ware
  2.  “Gimme Sympathy” Metric
  3.  “Agustana” Boston
  4. “Big Jet Plane” Angus & Julia Stone
  5. “Wait It Out” Imogen Heap
  6. “No One’s Gonna Love You” Band of Horses
  7.  “Be Ok” Ingrid Michaelson
  8.  “Sweet Disposition” Temper Trap
  9. “Point Me At Lost Islands” Tired Pony
  10. “Happier” A Fine Frenzy
  11.  “Keep Your Head Up” Ben Howard
  12. “Say Anything” Tristan Prettyman

Side B:

  1.  “Never Say Never” Tristan Prettyman
  2.  “My Stupid Mouth” John Mayer
  3. “Fader” Temper Trap
  4.  “Love Lost” Temper Trap
  5.  “First Day of My Life” Bright Eyes
  6. “Of I Go” Greg Laswell
  7. “Superhuman Touch” Athlete
  8. “Only Love” Ben Howard
  9. “Astair” Matt Costa
  10. “Flightless Bird, American Mouth”Iron & Wine
  11. “Lake Michigan” Rogue Wave
  12. “A Beautiful Mess” Jason Mraz

There you go, my 24 songs as of the moment. Now if I have to transfer these all to a 32gb thumb drive, that would be another story. Haha. I miss making mixtapes, my first one was a mix of Michael Learns To Rock, Bee Gees and Beatles back when I was around 12. Don't judge.
