5 Things to Do on Valentines Day (Especially When You're Single)

  rose from our office

Let’s face it, if you are single on this very day, all you want to do is get a 2x2 good lumber and whack any couple who cuddle in public holding hands while walking. Or curse the mighty capitalists as they keep capitalizing this ordinary day of February (for us singles) and sell whatever they can sell for couples out there. Or okay maybe that’s just me, whatever.

Nope I am not like that in all totality, just partially haha. I love, love. It is one of those magnificent feelings in the world that you cannot just explain because it makes you feel all other emotions / verbs available in the dictionary and maybe more. We enjoy that feeling, so what more can we do but celebrate it. We are not salmon’s on this very day (maybe most of us) who would go against the current, all we could do is go with the flow.

What can a single person can do on this faithful (or maybe cursed day for those who are bitter, broken and lonely – snap out of it, life is beautiful!)? Here are 5 things you can do:

1. Date your parents/parent for a change: (if they/she/he is/are here geographically or earthly speaking – if not, get to my number 1.a): there is nothing more than the greatest feeling to tell your mom and dad you love them. A simple dinner with or bring them a dessert would elicit the happiest feeling for sure.

a.  If your parents are not here (both geographically and physically/earthly speaking) a simple message that says “I love you” would work wonders. Drop by a church and say a prayer, light a candle or get them a flower. They do deserve the love. It is not just reserved to your special someone.

2. Date your friends and go to UP Feb Fair with them: (I’m pretty sure, the single ones will go– haha don’t demand time for those who are taken, we cannot get their night, no not today). UP Feb Fair usually happens during the Valentines week every year. Its inexpensive and there are a lot of people around plus there are great bands playing. Just be careful going around.

3. Take your nephew/nephews out and make sure you teach them the right way of treating a woman/girl/lady may you either be their uncle or aunt.

4. Take your niece/nieces out and do the same thing on point 3.

5. Most importantly, to stay away from bloodbath, stay at home during this very night. You do not want to froth in your mouth if all is crappy for you. Haha

In all seriousness, single people maybe alone but it shouldn’t be the reason to be lonely. There is always a reason to be happy. This 5 things maybe not the best list out there, but it could be what I could do.

Now, I am choosing choice number 2 and be with college friends for UP Feb Fair.

Happy Valentines Day everyone!
